From Lusaka (Zambia) : 198km - 2 ½ hours
Follow the southern route out of Lusaka (traveling through the towns of Chilanga and Kafue). After Kafue town, continue south towards Chirundu (do not take the Livingstone road) and follow the road which will take you down the Zambezi escarpment (this is a very beautiful route through the hills and valleys but beware of large trucks on the road – this is the main route to/from Zimbabwe and South Africa). At the bottom of the escarpment continue along the flat for about 20km and you will find a road on the right clearly marked Siavonga (68km) - (there is usually a Police road check at this junction). Travel along the Siavonga road (approximately 60km) and as you reach the bottom of the hills you will turn right (after the Puma Service Station) following the signs for Siavonga. About 3km along this road you will see signs on the left hand side for Eagles Rest – follow the signs.
From Kariba (Zimbabwe): 8km - 30 minutes
Cross the border at Kariba (crossing over the Kariba Dam Wall) into Zambia. After Customs and Immigration procedures, follow the road until you reach a Police road block. Turn left following the signs for Siavonga. About 3km along this road you will see signs on the left hand side for Eagles Rest – follow the signs.
From Chirundu (Zimbabwe) : 80km - 1 hour
Cross the border at Chirundu into Zambia. After Customs and Immigration procedures, follow the road for about 20km until you reach a road on the left hand side clearly marked Siavonga (68km) - (there is usually a Police road check at this junction). Travel along the Siavonga road (approximately 60km) and as you reach the bottom of the hills you will turn right (after the Puma Service Station) following the signs for Siavonga. About 3km along this road you will see signs on the left hand side for Eagles Rest – follow the signs.
From Livingstone (Zambia) : 570km - 6 ½ hours
From Livingstone take the Kafue/Lusaka road (approximately 450km) passing through the towns of Choma and Mazabuka. At the T Junction, turn right and continue south towards Chirundu. Follow the road which will take you down the Zambezi escarpment (this is a very beautiful route through the hills and valleys but beware of large trucks on the road – this is the main route to/from Zimbabwe and South Africa). Please Note: Many maps of the area show a Lake side road from Choma / Sinazongwe to Siavonga. This road is in extremely bad condition and it is not advisable to use this road - even in a 4x4 vehicle.
