EAGLES REST RESORT - BOOKING TERMS & CONDITIONS

A 50% deposit is required to confirm the booking. Bookings are only confirmed when the requested deposit has been received, and names of all guests are submitted.

Final payments for all Chalet accommodation can be paid directly into our accounts as mentioned below, or to our local booking agent, Bush Buzz Ltd, 14 days before arrival at Eagles Rest. If a booking is made under 14 days before arrival, we shall request for the full payment to be made.

As we do not send reminders or statements, the client is responsible for making sure that payments are made on time in order to secure their booking.

Bank Transfer payments may be made into our Zambian Kwacha account or our US Dollar account.  Account details will be provided on request at the time of booking.

Payment by Visa/Mastercard/American Express Credit Cards
We wish to advise that Barclays Bank of Zambia charge 3.5% on Visa/Mastercard and 5% on American Express Credit Card Transactions. In order to accept payment by these Credit Cards the above surcharge will be added to all bills paid by Credit Card.

Payment by Travellers Cheques
We wish to advise that the Banks charge commission on the conversion of Travellers Cheques in order to accept payment by Travellers Cheques a surcharge will be added to all bills as follows:

• Barclays Travellers Cheques NO CHARGE


• All other Travellers Cheques US $ 30.00 OR 1% (ONE PERCENT) OF THE VALUE OF THE TRAVELLERS CHEQUES PRESENTED WHICHEVER IS THE GREATER.

Only on receipt of written notification can a booking be cancelled. If a cancellation is received less than 30 days prior to arrival, cancellation fees as follows will be charged.

• 30 to 14 days before booked check in date: 50% of total fee
• 14 to 7 days before booked check in date: 75% of total fee
• 7 to 0 days before booked check in date: 100% of total fee
• No show on booked check in date: 100% of total fee

Please note that no refunds are given where a client leaves a Lodge before their booked check out date, or if a stay ends before its booked end date due to reasons beyond Eagles Rest Lodge control.

All guests are required to adhere to the following Conditions and sign an Indemnity on arrival.

Conditions of Accommodation
Guests are at all times requested to adhere to Lodge & Campsite regulations below. These are for your own safety & well being.

• Guests should be aware of the fact that the lodge is in an unfenced area and that Crocodile and Hippos can be encountered anywhere on the land around the Lodge as well as on the lake or waterways, and that such animals can be dangerous to life and limb, and that the management, staff and partners of Eagles Rest cannot be held responsible for any loss of life, limb or property while you are a guest at Eagles Rest.
• Please do not pick or disturb the natural flora.
• Swimming in the lake or in the swimming pool is at your own risk.
• Children should be supervised at all times.
• Please be sure to inform the Lodge management if you intend to go out on the lake or surrounding area unaccompanied by a lodge staff member.
• Guests should be aware of the hazards and distribution of malaria in Southern Africa and take the necessary precautions.
• Guests should be aware that rivers, lakes and dams may contain bilharzia and sickness may result upon entry into such waters.\
• Guests should be aware of the potential dangers of exposure to the sun - directly or indirectly - and that serious sunburn or sunstroke may result from unprotected exposure.
• Guests are requested to take due care of valuables such as: jewellery, personal belongings and money.
• Loud & unruly behavior will not be tolerated.
• We reserve the right of admission at all time.
• Guests are urged to indicate any special dietary requirements upon making their reservations. Eagles Rest Lodge will gladly try to accommodate your dietary wishes where ever possible.

Indemnity
I/We acknowledge I/we am/are well acquainted and fully aware of, and appreciate, the real dangers and risks that are associated with unfenced area's, rivers and lake area's arising from the presence of wild and dangerous animals, reptiles, birds, insects, spiders and scorpions (hereafter collectively referred to as "fauna") and the real risk of suffering bodily harm, injury or death and/or loss to property, which may arise as a result of an encounter with and/or presence of such fauna, whilst on these premises, facility or property of the Lodge (hereafter referred to as "the property").

I/We acknowledge I/we am/are well acquainted and fully aware of, and appreciate, the dangers and risks that are associated with any Activity offered by Eagles Rest Resort and the risk of suffering bodily harm, injury or death and/or loss to property, which may arise as a result such participation of the said Activity, and I/We do so participate in any Activity entirely at My/Our own risk.

I/we waive all claims, of whatsoever cause or nature howsoever, arising against the owners of "the Property," their associates, staff, and/or any person connected, whether directly or indirectly, with the running of the facility / lodge and fellow guests/invitees, which I/we might have arising out of harm, injury, death or loss suffered whilst on "the Property" and whether arising from an act of commission or omission on the part of those hereby indemnified.

I/we indemnify and hold harmless and free, the owners of "the Property," their associates, staff and/or any person connected, whether directly or indirectly, with the running of "the Property" and fellow guests/invitees, from any and all claims of whatsoever nature which may arise on behalf of my spouse, common law wife/husband, my children, whether minor or adult, or relatives and/or persons accompanying me/us to "the Property" whether as my/our invitee or otherwise, who suffer injury or loss whilst on "the Property," and whether arising from any act of commission or omission on the part of those hereby indemnified.

In the event of injury, the owners of "the Property" or their associates or staff may at their discretion, and without prejudice and without admission of liability, arrange and pay for emergency treatment for and on behalf of any guest.

BATELEUR HOUSEBOAT - BOOKING TERMS & CONDITIONS

Insurance & Indemnity:
Each client travelling on the Bateleur Houseboat is obliged to take out their own comprehensive travel insurance covering cancellation, curtailment, medical expenses, personal accident, personal baggage and money.

All clients travelling on the Bateleur Houseboat are required to complete and sign an Indemnity Form before embarking. Eagles Rest Lodge accepts no responsibility for any death, illness, delay, accident or loss whatsoever incurred during the course of the cruise or for any expense arising from such an event. Liability to passengers carried in any vehicle or vessel owned by Eagles Rest or any agent acting on behalf of Eagles Rest is governed by the laws of the country in which such activities take place, and all claims are subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of the country in which the cause of action arises.

Any cruise on the waters of Lake Kariba can be potentially hazardous and it is essential that all lawful directions and advice of the boat's captain be followed.

The Captain in charge of the Houseboat Bateleur or the Management of Eagles Rest Resort reserves the right to refuse to accept or retain any person on a cruise at any time if such a person's physical or mental health and condition, or general attitude and deportment impede the operation of the cruise or the welfare and enjoyment of other cruise passengers.

BATELEUR HOUSEBOAT - CONDITIONS OF ACCOMMODATION & INDEMNITY

All guests are required to adhere to the following Conditions and sign an Indemnity on arrival.

• Guests should be aware of the fact that the Bateleur Houseboat sometimes moors for the night in areas where wild animals can be encountered anywhere on the land as well as on the lake or waterways, and that such animals can be dangerous to life and limb, and that the management and partners of Eagles Rest Resort cannot be held responsible for any loss of life, limb or property while you are a guest on the Bateleur Houseboat.
• Please do not pick or disturb the natural flora.
• Swimming in the lake is at your own risk.
• Children should be supervised at all times.
• We trust that clients travelling in Africa appreciate that the carrying out of itineraries is largely dependant on local conditions. Eagles Rest Resort therefore reserves the right to make alterations to a cruise, be it a complete withdrawal, elimination of any feature or slight adaptation of the route/itinerary, should the local (weather) conditions necessitate.
• Every effort will be made to ensure that the Houseboat departs and returns to port at the scheduled times. However Eagles Rest Resort cannot be held responsible for any delays or changes to clients own itineraries due to unforeseen circumstances.
• Guests should be aware of the hazards and distribution of malaria in Southern Africa and take the necessary precautions.
• Guests should be aware that rivers, lakes and dams may contain bilharzia and sickness may result upon entry into such waters.

Indemnity
I/We acknowledge I/we am/are well acquainted and fully aware of, and appreciate, the real dangers and risks that are associated with boats, rivers and lake areas arising from the presence of wild and dangerous animals, reptiles, birds, insects, spiders and scorpions (hereafter collectively referred to as "fauna") the risk to persons due to drowning and the real risk of suffering bodily harm, injury or death and/or loss to property, which may arise as a result of an encounter with and/or presence of such fauna and accidents on water, whilst on Eagles Rest premises, facilities or property of the Houseboat and tender boats (hereafter referred to as "the property").

I/We acknowledge I/we am/are well acquainted and fully aware of, and appreciate, the dangers and risks that are associated with any Activity offered by Eagles Rest Resort and the risk of suffering bodily harm, injury or death and/or loss to property, which may arise as a result such participation of the said Activity, and I/We do so participate in any Activity entirely at My/Our own risk.
